With children
Are you in Tarbes for a few hours with your family?
Here are some ideas for enjoyable walks and visits that are suitable for families.
Massey Gardens
This garden is a favourite place for the locals of Tarbes and it will soon be your children’s favourite too once they’ve been to the mini farm, on the little tourist train and caught a glimpse of the squirrels hiding behind the trees.
This is a beautiful place and ideal for families.
Musée Massey
A tour of Musée Massey is a fun experience for children thanks to Placide the squirrel and the games booklet.
Answer the surprising questions as you explore the incredible Hussars collection.
Explore the town
The Tourist Office will give you a sightseeing booklet so you can set off on a fun tour with your children aged between 6 and 10. This self-guided tour of the town centre is called ‘C’est moi le guide’ (I’m the guide)!
The CaminAdour
Are you ready for a bike ride or a walk along this rural trail overlooking the Pyrenees?
You’ll have a breath-taking view of the Pic du Midi as you follow the trail alongside the Adour river which turns into a mountain stream along the way.
Enjoy the peaks of the Pyrenees at an altitude of only 300 m!
The Haras (stud farm)
We recommend this family-friendly guided tour of the Haras de Tarbes!
Find out all about the history and secrets as you discover the collection of horse-drawn carriages and the vast tack room.
Depending on the day, you might even see the farrier, working iron in his forge or the artist in residence leading a workshop, and you can watch the horses at work in the military section or the mounted police of Tarbes.
To discover all year round, with a booking…
What about the teens?
Come to the Arsenal neighbourhood and watch a film at the cinema (link to CGR)!
Blow off some steam during a game of squash, at the trampoline park or have some fun going head-to-head in an indoor match of soccer, or bubble football.
For sporty gamers, come and go head-to-head in a game of laser tag or the virtual reality 2.0 version.
Here are all our recommendations for indoor and outdoor leisure activities!
Run for cover!
It is raining? It’s rare, but possible!
It’s a great opportunity to come and discover our museums and other sites and monuments.
Why not take advantage and learn a little more about Tarbes!
Choose an activity to do as a family, as a couple or alone!
Horse-drawn carriage ride
In Tarbes, the town of horses, we highly recommend a ride on a horse-drawn carriage!
Take a tour of Massey Gardens or a tour of the town, for a great, fun way to explore the area, with Philippe, the driver,
who will be delighted to tell you some anecdotes about the town along the way!
Added bonus
The children’s workshops at the Musée Massey: they will awaken their curiosity for culture, new discoveries, research and knowledge, and they’ll be having fun at the same time.
Bookings are compulsory, check the next dates in our Events’ calendar.
