Placide Massey (1777–1853), the king’s landscape gardener, donated this extraordinary garden, classified a ‘Remarkable Garden’, to Tarbes. Come and take a stroll around the colourful flower beds for a round-the-world tour of the most decorative tree species.

A haven of peace in the town centre!
This wonderful 11-hectare garden is a must-see while you’re in Tarbes! It was created by local of Tarbes, Placide Massey, steward for Queen Hortense of Holland and Director of the vegetable garden at the Château de Versailles.
The whole family will enjoy exploring the variety of tree species, the cloister with 40 arches and historiated capitals, the majestic alleys, the water flowing through the entire park and the scent of a thousand flowers!
Massey Gardens is a beautiful place in any season, and it is the ideal place to take a break or enjoy the entertainment organised in the summer.

Musée Massey houses the Musée International des Hussards and the Musée des Beaux-Arts
Your exploration of the gardens will naturally lead you to the Musée Massey, an ancient Moorish-style building with observation tower overlooking the Pyrenees, and a modern art and history museum.
Step inside to see a unique collection that showcases the international history of the Hussars, as well as a fine arts collection, and a themed visitor’s tour of European paintings from the 15th to the 20th century.
