The Tarbes en Tango international festival
One of the most famous festivals in the world takes place right here in Tarbes! In August, Tarbes becomes the world capital of Argentinian dancing, music and culture. For the past 20 years, Tango dancers from all over the world have been gathering in Tarbes to share their passion for dancing and music and to perfect their art with some of the most prestigious maestros in the world of Tango!

transforms Tarbes into the Argentinian capital
For the past 20 years, Tango dancers from all over the world have been gathering in Tarbes to share their passion for dancing and music and to perfect their art with some of the most prestigious maestros in the world of Tango.
With almost 130 internationally renowned artists and more than 18,000 visitors from all over the world, the streets of the town centre are brought to life by the sound of the bandoneon and the Tango dancers rush to the various events organised in the different neighbourhoods and gardens throughout the town. In the evenings, there are some magnificent shows with dancing and singing in the beautiful Halle Marcadieu which is transformed into a giant milonga (Tango ball) into the early hours…
A rich and eclectic programme of events
This festival was created in 1997 and very quickly became an unmissable event in the world of Tango, thanks to the diversity and top-quality of the artistic productions.
In original and magical dance venues, there are shows, balls, concerts, dance workshops, music, musical early evening cocktail hour in front of the cafés, as well as film showings, conferences, signings, musical debates, exhibitions, and much, much more.
The Tarbes en Tango festival is organised by Tarbes Animations, Tarbes town hall and the Tangueando Ibos association, and invites visitors to come and experience the fascinating atmosphere of Buenos Aires, to the rhythm of Tango!

The Caminito wall painting / the Tango monument / the book ‘Tarbes en Tango’ (created by the Institut de Promotion Touristique Argentin
and given to the town of Tarbes in 2013)
