Thursday’s food trip
Thursday is market day in Tarbes!
Come and meet the producers and taste their products.
Treat yourselves to some delicious products in a superb atmosphere, characteristic of south-west France!
Marcadieu Market
Come and taste the products of our terroir from the stalls of Marcadieu market, one of the biggest farmers’ markets in south-west France.
This Baltard-style indoor market was built in 1883 and is an unmissable, historic place for local farmers and producers to come and sell their products.
There’s a great atmosphere here, and everyone wears the traditional beret!
Our star products
Take a little bit of our region home with you by filling your basket with our specialities: gâteau à la broche (spit cake), local cheeses, Noir de Bigorre pork, Haricots Tarbais beans, Barèges lamb, Noire d’Astarac-Bigorre chicken, Trébons onions, foie gras and other delicious specialities…
The Tarbes experience
Stop by one of the outdoor terraces near the market for a cup of home-roasted coffee, a sharing platter of local specialities with a glass of Madiran, or a local dish such as the legendary ‘garbure‘ stew with Haricots Tarbais at one of the many restaurants in the town.
Brauhauban Market
You can expect good products and a welcoming atmosphere in the town centre at Brauhauban market, the town’s 2nd biggest market, open all week.
You can taste the top-quality products and then take some home with you.
It is also the perfect area for lunch in the sun out on the terrace!
Added bonus
To make it easier to park, the first hour is free-of-charge or you could take advantage of the market shuttle service, 100% electric!
If you’ve still got some time to spare…
